Love, Death and Robots: The Tall Grass - Laird
Final Zbrush model. The head was a collaboration with the incredible James W Cain who created a series of amazing concept sculpts for the character. The suit and body is solely my work.

I was very lucky to have the opportunity to be the Lead Character Artist on Axis Studios short film The Tall Grass, which was part of Love, Death and Robots Volume 2. I had a hand in all of the character assets to varying degrees, and was part of the lookdev team, developing the shader. I modelled, textured and shaded the main character, Laird. The head was a collaboration between the incredible James W Cain and myself. James created a whole series of amazing concept sculpts for Laird's head, as well as the Railman's head and early explorations for the Lost Souls. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with him. I was entirely responsible for the rest of Laird and the final production model, and the hand painted textures, which needed to work within the shader we had built.
I would like to thank all of my Axis colleagues on the Tall Grass team; the whole short was a hugely collaborative effort. I'd also like to thank Blur and Tim Miller for giving us the opportunity to be a part of Volume 2, and Simon Otto, the director for trusting us with his vision.
