The Lament of Hos Concept Sculpt

This is a concept sculpt that I did for a talk at FMX2025, on behalf of the awesome people at Maxon. It was a real honour to be invited and to present my workflow to the people that came.

The image is inspired by a short story called the Lament of Hos by Amy Jeffs in her fantastic book, Wild. If you are a fan of ancient folk tales you should definitely give it a read. At the beginning of the story, Hos wakes up to find herself buried under a tree, having been betrayed and murdered, her hair cut short at the back from the blow that killed her. With her are the other inhabitants of the burial mound, dead kings who tell her that she is alone and abandoned. It's a scene that stayed with me for a long time.

It was a really fun sculpt, despite the time limitations I had due to other projects. I hope you all like it!

Maxon will release the talk online at a later date.
